Treatments
The process of therapy is pretty much the same in Hypnotherapy as it is in Counseling at first, sitting and chatting about your issue and your life. It's an opportunity for me to learn a bit about you so as to construct a successful treatment plan. As well as learning the cognitive skills that I teach that enable the Hypnosis part of the sessions to be so effective.
The Hypnosis itself is very simple, you don't need to concentrate too hard and can infact almost relax and do nothing. Like most modern therapists I use my voice to induce Hypnosis and will guide you through a series of easy mental exercises that you can practice at home. To help you learn Hypnosis I will also give you a CD to listen to as often as you can, it is very important that you practice putting yourself into Hypnosis with it.
During the Hypnosis part of the session you will always be awake, aware and remember everything.
Hypnosis helps deal with issues in a variety of ways.
Because the state of Hypnosis helps accelerate the learning process you're able to trick a part of your mind into acting as if your issue faded away years ago.
This is done through suggestion and visualisation. Suggestions that you will feel calmer and steadier over the coming days and weeks and visualisation of you doing something that you used to find difficult to deal with but coping perfectly. Consciously you know that the benefits of doing this start now, but you are likely to react in a way that feels as if your issue disappeared long ago.
Sometimes it is important to take a little imaginary time travel trip back to a time in your life that is relevant. Doing this we can use our imagination to rewrite certain events, or look at them from an adults perspective. Doing this can help your subconscious mind recognise that the issue is in the past and has no relevance today.
